【摘要】:Thistestmethodassignsanempiricalvaluetotherelativeamount,fineness,andcharacterofclaylikematerialpresentinthetestspecimen.Aminimumsandequivalentvaluemaybespecifiedtolimitthepermissiblequantityofclaylikefinesinanaggregate.Thistestmethodprovidesarapidfieldmethodfordeterminingchangesinthequalityofaggregatesduringproductionorplacement.1.1Thistestmethodisintendedtoserveasarapidfield-correlationtest.Thepurposeofthistestmethodistoindicate,understandardconditions,therelativeproportionsofclay-likeorplasticfinesanddustingranularsoilsandfineaggregatesthatpassthe4.75-mm(No.4)sieve.Theterm"sandequivalent"expressestheconceptthatmostgranularsoilsandfineaggregatesaremixturesofdesirablecoarseparticles,sand,andgenerallyundesirableclayorplasticfinesanddust.Note18212;Someagenciesperformthetestonmaterialwithatopsizesmallerthanthe4.75-mm(No.4)sieve.Thisisdonetoavoidtrappingtheclay-likeorplasticfinesanddustbelowflakyshaped4.75to2.36mm(No.4to8)sizedparticles.Testingsmallertopsizedmaterialmaylowerthenumericalresultsofthetest.1.2UnitsofMeasurement1.2.1ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard,withtheexceptionofthedimensionsofthespecialsandequivalenttestapparatusdescribedin,inwhichthetheinchdimensionsarestandard.Valuesinparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
