【摘要】:Mixedflowinggas(MFG)testsareusedtosimulateoramplifyexposuretoenvironmentalconditionswhichelectricalcontactsorconnectorscanbeexpectedtoexperienceinvariousapplicationenvironments(1,2).TestsampleswhichhavebeenexposedtoMFGtestshaverangedfrombaremetalsurfaces,toelectricalconnectors,andtocompleteassemblies.Thespecifictestconditionsareusuallychosensoastosimulate,inthetestlaboratory,theeffectsofcertainrepresentativefieldenvironmentsorenvironmentalseveritylevelsonstandardmetallicsurfaces,suchascopperandsilvercouponsorporousgoldplatings(1,2).BecauseMFGtestsaresimulations,boththetestconditionsandthedegradationreactions(chemicalreactionrate,compositionofreactionproducts,etc.)maynotalwaysresemblethosefoundintheserviceenvironmentoftheproductbeingtestedintheMFGtest.AguidetotheselectionofsimulationconditionssuitableforavarietyofenvironmentsisfoundinGuideB845.TheMFGexposuresaregenerallyusedinconjunctionwithprocedureswhichevaluatecontactorconnectorelectricalperformancesuchasmeasurementofelectricalcontactresistancebeforeandafterMFGexposure.TheMFGtestsareusefulforconnectorsystemswhosecontactsurfacesareplatedorcladwithgoldorotherpreciousmetalfinishes.Forsuchsurfaces,environmentallyproducedfailuresareoftenduetohighresistanceorintermittencescausedbytheformationofinsulatingcontaminationinthecontactregion.Thiscontamination,intheformoffilmsandhardparticles,isgenerallytheresultofporecorrosionandcorrosionproductmigrationortarnishcreepagefromporesinthepreciousmetalcoatingandfromunplatedbasemetalboundaries,ifpresent.TheMFGexposurescanbeusedtoevaluatenovelelectricalcontactmetallizationforsusceptibilitytodegradationduetoenvironmentalexposuretothetestcorrosivegases.TheMFGexposurescanbeusedtoevaluatetheshieldingcapabilityofconnectorhousingswhichmayactasabarriertotheingressofcorrosivegases.TheMFGexposurescanbeusedtoevaluatethesusceptibilityofotherconnectormaterialssuchasplastichousingstodegradationfromthetestcorrosivegases.TheMFGtestsarenotnormallyusedasporositytests.Foraguidetoporositytesting,seeGuideB765.TheMFGtestsaregenerallynotapplicablewherethefailuremechanismisotherthanpollutantgascorrosionsuchasintin-coatedseparablecontacts.1.1Thispracticeprovidesproceduresforconductingenvironmentaltestsinvolvingexposurestocontrolledquantitiesofcorrosivegasmixtures.1.2Thispracticeprovidesfortherequiredequipmentandmethodsforgas,temperature,andhumiditycontrolwhichenableteststobeconductedinareproduciblemanner.Reproducibilityismeasuredthroughtheuseofcontrolcouponswhosecorrosionfilmsareevaluatedbymassgain,coulometry,orbyvariouselectronandX-raybeamanalysistechniques.Reproducibilitycanalsobemeasuredbyinsitucorrosionratemonitorsusingelectricalresistanceormass/frequencychangemethods.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.ItistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtobecomefamiliarwithallhazardsincludingthoseidentifiedintheappropriateMaterialSafetyData......
