【摘要】:Theoxidationofsiliconcarbiderefractoriesatelevatedtemperaturesisanimportantconsiderationintheapplicationoftheserefractories.Theproductofoxidationisamorphoussilicaorcristobalite,dependinguponthetemperatureatwhichoxidationtakesplace.Thisoxideformationisassociatedwithexpansionanddegradationofstrength.Thequantityofwatervaporintheatmospheregreatlyaffectstherateofoxidation.Thetest,whichcreatesandmeasurestheexpansion,issuitableforguidanceinproductdevelopmentandrelativecomparisoninapplicationworkwhereoxidationpotentialisofconcern.Thevariabilityofthetestissuchthatitisnotrecommendedforuseasarefereetest.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstheevaluationoftheoxidationresistanceofsiliconcarbiderefractoriesatelevatedtemperaturesinanatmosphereofsteam.Thesteamisusedtoacceleratethetest.Oxidationresistanceistheabilityofthesiliconcarbide(SiC)intherefractorytoresistconversiontosilicondioxide(SiO2)anditsattendantcrystallinegrowth.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
