【摘要】:1.1Thispracticedescribesproceduresforspecimenpreparationandmountingwhentestingtextile,paperorvinyl(includingexpandedvinyl)wallorceilingcoveringmaterialstoassessflamespreadandsmokedevelopmentassurfaceburningcharacteristicsusingTestMethodE84.1.2TestingisconductedwithTestMethodE84.1.3Thispracticedoesnotprovidepass/failcriteriathatcanbeusedasaregulatorytool.1.4Usethevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsasthestandard,inrefereedecisions.ThevaluesintheSIsystemofunitsaregiveninparentheses,forinformationonly;seeIEEE/ASTMSI-10forfurtherdetails.1.5Thisfirestandardcannotbeusedtoprovidequantitativemeasures.1.6Firetestingofproductsandmaterialsisinherentlyhazardous,andadequatesafeguardsforpersonnelandpropertyshallbeemployedinconductingthesetests.Firetestinginvolveshazardousmaterials,operations,andequipment.Thisstandardgivesinstructionsonspecimenpreparationandmounting,butthefire-test-responsemethodisgiveninTestMethodE84.SeealsoSection10.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.7Thetextofthisstandardreferencesnotesandfootnoteswhichprovideexplanatorymaterial.Thesenotesandfootnotesshallnotbeconsideredrequirementsofthestandard.
